A CUSTOM.

A custom, ever-altering ‘denim’ dress. Working towards a content customer and having to keep constant communication for everyone to walk away a winner. Everything down to the width of each box pleat was decided for me, I just made sure all the seams were crisp by making a lining, along with an invisible pocket as women’s clothing need pockets.

Origami inspires a multitude of design concepts, aside from the craft, and I am fascinated with its simplicity and the ability it has to transform.

SPLïCED

An idea came to me when I was doodling basic shapes, to geometrically mix up a standard T-shirt pattern and convert it into a jacket. With every meeting seam’s top stitch colour matching, the navy zip, it finishes off the collage better than I had imagined.

The only thought I had with this creation was “how can I make a cardigan look like a scarf?”

Culture is something I love to look at for inspiration, yet I always take an influence and incorporate my own creative ideas. It’s important to embrace style from across the globe, however it comes from a standpoint. Self-identity is important to consider when considering others’ opinions. Labels are inbuilt into our societies, and by understanding their principles, only then can you manipulate.

Gucci is one of many brands I have admiration for and wanted to work on a project that was in keeping with this years’ latest collection. I got huge equestrian influences from Gucci’s line this year, so I worked on fusing ‘jockey-like’ tight-fitted extended cuffs with a double necked, turtle neck.

Why choose which side gets to have all the spotlight, when you can have both?
